Coney Island Opens World’s Smallest Brewery

Coney Island Brewery

On August 10, San Francisco-based Schmaltz Brewing Company opened up the World’s Smallest Commercial Production Brewery on Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY, legitimizing their Coney Island line of beers, and turning the act of brewing into a sideshow of sorts.

Coney Island’s recipes, which are inspired by “the local artistic and gastronomical landscape” of the area, include a Pumpernickel Bagel Porter; a Red, White, and Blueberry Hefeweizen; a Korndog Kolsch; and a Caramel Apple Ale.

The brewery will crank out beers three at a time in two gallon batches, and guests are invited to watch the beer making process in action (as well as buy t-shirts, beer, and other Coney Island swag).

If you’re in the area, I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon!

The Very Many Varieties of Beer

You may think you’ve tried every brew in the book, but Pop Chart Lab’s The Very Many Varieties of Beer poster would suggest otherwise!

Beer Styles Poster

The poster, which includes all major styles of beer, along with representative quaffs for each style, is printed on the offset lithographic presses of Precise Continental Corp., in DUMBO, Brooklyn, and is hand-signed and numbered by the artists.

Plus, if you put it behind glass and in a frame, you can use a dry erase marker to turn the poster into a checklist, so that you can begin to work your way through the more obscure options.
